Detailed Itenerary

Day 01: Arrive Chennai
Upon arrival Chennai in the morning, meeting & assistance on arrival and transfer to Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Chennai visiting the Museum to see the Art Gallery. Drive throught the flower fruit Market, High Court, Fort Museum, Marina Beach,Santhome Cathedral and Snake Park. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02 Chennai/KanchipuramMahabalipuram
After breakfast, leave Chennai for Mahabalipuram enroute visiting Kancheepuram. On reaching Mahabalipuram check-in at Hotel. Afternoon tour of Mahabalipuram including visit to Shore Temples - the World Heritage site. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03: Mahabalipuram/Pondicherry (132 kms. 3.30 hrs.)
After breakfast, leave Mahabalipuram by road for Pondicherry and check-in at Hotel. Afternoon tour of Pondicherry including visit to Auroville. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 04: Pondicherry/Tanjore/Trichy (243 kms. 6 hrs.)
After breakfast, leave Pondichery for Trichy enroute visiting Tanjore - The home of Carnatic music, musical instruments, dance and traditional hadicrafts, Tanjore (Thanjavur) is famous for the Brahadeeswarar Temple. The temple constructed more than a thousand years ago by the Chola King Raja Rajan is an architect's marvel. The Art Gallery and the Saraswathi Mahal Library are also well known places of interest. On reaching Trichy, check-in at Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour Trichy was occupied by Chola and Pallava Dynasties. The Nayakas of Madurai have constructed the greater portion of the town. Visit Rock Fort Temple (is a landmark of Trichy) with a Ganesh Temple on the top of this rock also contains excavated cave temples dating to the 7th century A.D. the famous for fine sculptures, a climb up its stone to the Hall of a hundred pillars. Visit the island of Srirangam - surrounded by the Kaveri water is a 600 acre island town enclosed within the seven walls on the gigantic Sri Ranganathaswami Vishnu temple. There are no less than 22 gopurams, one of which is the tallest in India. The 72 m high 13 tiered gopuram dominates the landscape for miles around. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 05: Trichy /Madurai (142 kms. 3.30 hrs.)
After breakfast, drive towards Madurai & upon arrival check in at Hotel. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Madurai - known as Athens of the East, it is the second largest city on the banks of the River Vigai. The city believed to be more than 2500 years old. The city got its name from the drops of nectar (Mathuram) that fell from Shiva's locs when he came to bless its people for constructing a temple for him. Madurai where the people wake up at the chant of hymns is proud of magnificent 'The Meenakshi-Sundareswara Temple. Of its 12 gopurams, four of the tallest stand at the outer walls of the temple. The 48.8 m high southern gopuram is the most spectacular and have over 1500 sculptures. In the Ashta Shakti Mandapam inside the Meenakshi temple, the sculpted pillars tell the story of the beautiful princess of Madurai and her marriage to Lord Shiva. Visit includes, Teppakulam, a tank with an island temple, Tirumalainaik palace, 1000 pillared hall & the Sri Meenakshi Temple - a World Heritage Site. Evening witness Prayer Ceremony at the Meenakshi Temple. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 06: Madurai / Kovalam Beach (270 kms. 6 hrs.)
After breakfast proceed towards Kovalam- where located the world famous Beach popularly known as "Paradise of South". On reaching Kovalam check-in at Hotel. Rest of the day at leisure OR go for ' God's own Country's most popular Ayurveda Rejuvenation Treatments/ Massages. Overnight at hotel.

Day 07: In Kovalam
After breakfast full day at leisure with 'Optional' day return trip to Kanya Kumari with enroute visit Padmanbha temple OR go for Ayurveda Rejuvenation Treatments/ Massages. Kanya Kumari (Cape Comorin) -situated 87 km away from Thiruvananthapuram, it is located at a junction at the southernmost tip of India where the three water bodies, namely, Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea and the Indian Ocean meet. From here, one can see the sun rise from the Bay of Bengal and set in the Arabian Sea. Take motor launch for visit to Vivekananda Memorial, Gandhi Mandapa & Kannyakumari Temple - a holy place for Hindus. While going to Cape Comorin, on the way visit the Padmanabha Wooden Palace. Overnight Hotel.

Day 08: Kovalam/Alleppey (175 kms.4.30 hrs.)/Houseboat
After breakfast, drive to Alleppey which is one of the most important tourist centers in the state, with a large network of inland canals earning it the sobriquet "Venice of the east". These large network of canals provide Alleppey its lifeline. Alleppey was one of the busiest centers of trade in the past with one of the best known ports along the Malabar coast. Here in Alleppey, board Kettuvallam (Houseboat) for overnight cruise across the backwaters. The luxuriously furnished Kettuvallam is made entirely of jackwood planks tied (kettu) together with strong coir rope to form a huge barge(vallam). The boat is constructed without using a single nail and is coated with a special resin obtained from boiling cashew kernels. Each a masterpiece of intricate craftsmanship, the ‘Kettuvallam’ lasts, not for years, but for generations. Each House boat has furnished bedrooms (1 to 5 rooms AC or Non AC), modern toilets, cozy living rooms, a kitchen and even a balcony for angling, an open lounge and a crew comprising of an oarsmen,a cook and guide. During the cruise on Kettuvalam, have a glimpse of the village life at close quarters, an unique and unforgettable experience. Day 09: Houseboat/Kumarakom/Thekkady (Periyar National Park & Tiger Reserve) (120 kms. 3 hrs.)
- Morning after breakfast disembark from the Houseboat in Kumarokam at 09.30 hrs. & drive towards Periyar with stops on way to see various Spice Plantation in its natural habitat. On reaching Thekkady, check into Hotel. Afternoon game viewing cruise on the Lake Periyar by boat with naturalist. The variety of wildlife, which include Elephants, monkeys, deer, wild boar and very rarely, a Tiger. Quite a lot of unique birds can also be spotted. Overnight at Hotel.
